Tallahassee Mountain Bike website info
Website read me:
Layout:
Here's is a basic layout of how the site is set up.

Includes:
The Orange and Blue areas are coded in subsets known as "includes". Each web page of the site calls these includes with a html tag. The includes are shared by all (or most of) the pages in the web site. The benefit of using includes is that the webmasters can make an edit in one single place (e.g. the top navigation bar) and have the changes reflected throughout the site.
The Green area is the main content area. The site has been designed to stretch both vertically (basic and common) as well as horizontally (common but not basic). The main reason to do this is so that content providers have flexibility when they prepare for the site.
Style Sheets:
The website uses a style sheet (.css) in a simple way. The main reason we are using a .css is to present all the colors and the fonts in a consistent manner. The benefit of using the .css is that a single edit can update the whole website.
The style sheet will be evolving over time. If you ever want to look at it and see what is in there you can find it here: http://www.tallahasseemountainbike.net/css/TallahasseeMountainBike.css
It's probably inevitable that a discussion of style sheets and layers vs tables will come up amongst our web savvy cyclist friends. This site has been designed to be fully cross browser compatible using tables in a very simple manner. If you know a bunch about super cool layer based .css zen layouts the previous sentence should mean something really important. If it doesn't, please don't get too angry with us for using an older more conservative page layout strategy.
Calendar:
We are going to try using the Google calendar for the website. It seems to work real well. The calendar is setup with a Google account linked to the website. If someone (or several people) can take on the task of keeping the calendar up to date we can provide login info for the Google website.
Our first tests with the Google calendar suggest that they have done a fantastic job of thinking about what the end user needs. We had a Calendar setup and were editing it within moments. It's really easy...so, who want's to step up and keep it up to date?
